FIO Domains on OpenSea.io +
Currently, FIO is excluded from the conversation on prominent NFT marketplaces utilizing the Ethereum blockchain such as OpenSea.io for domain name NFT auctions.
Once FIO Domain Wrapping is ready (later this year, see FIP-27, FIO Token and Domain NFT wrapping ), marketing should be prepared to make sure FIO is included as part of the conversation on the marketplace websites and blogs, as well as promotional campaigns to generate buzz and excitement in the crypto ecosystem.
FIO Domains have strong competitive advantage against Unstoppable and ENS in terms of pricing which should be highlighted
One challenge that I'm hoping the FIO Product Team can help us to overcome, is the ability for a user to buy a FIO domain with a single transaction and retain ownership beyond 1 year, ideally, ownership should be offered to purchase for 5, 10, 20 years. I believe that by owning the domain for 10 and 20 years (respectively costing the purchaser $400 and $800), they will be able to command better auction prices on NFT marketplaces.
The Steering Committee and Marketing Team will want to decide if they want to list domains the Foundation owns and seed the NFT marketplaces (I believe this will likely be "yes" if not a "heck yes").
There will be some considerable work to be done with what domains the Foundation would want to set up an NFT marketplace account for and sell. Example: does the Foundation list "@ nike" domain for sale, or would that risk FIO's ability for adoption too much if someone irresponsible or uncooperative were to own that domain? Or is this to our advantage ultimately as these will be the domains most desireable.
I recommend the marketing team to spend a little time looking at the other domains that have sold at premium prices, and emulate from that as an important strategy to include in this broader campaign.
