What is the Foundation?

The Foundation for Interwallet Operability is a consortia of wallets, exchange, and crypto payment processors that are supporting the development of the FIO Protocol - a decentralized service layer that improves usability across all blockchains and applications.

Who are the FIO Ecosystem participants?

FIO Members are wallets, exchange, and crypto payment processors who intend to integrate the FIO Protocol and support its development. A full list is available at https://www.fioprotocol.io/ecosystem/

During its initial launch, the earliest participants with FIO were referred to as "FIO Members", but that terminology is no longer used and is no longer a meaningful differentiator between projects that have integrated the FIO Protocol

What power does FIO have over the FIO Protocol itself?

The Foundation will be managed as a DAC (decentralized autonomous organization), in which users ultimately provide the decision-making apparatus on the future of the FIO Protocol. More details on this will be forthcoming (there are various tools that need to be built for the DAC to fully operate).

Is FIO a registered organization? Where was it registered?

The Foundation for Interwallet Operability (FIO), is a Cayman Islands based not-for-profit organization. FIO was established to promote the adoption and use of the FIO Protocol.

Is it possible for FIO to change/modify/delete a FIO Address, if compelled by the government or sued by a business?

No, FIO itself has no capacity to do that. A FIO Address mapping cannot be "modified" by anyone aside from the holder of the private key. It is important to note then that a FIO Address on a custodial platform (wallet or exchange) CAN alter mappings, and you must be able to trust that party.
