Atlassian (JIRA/Confluence) sends out a lot of notifications and this is intended to help you deal with it.
In Jira, notifications about any change to an issue is typically sent to 4 groups of users:
Reporter - user who created the original issues
Assignee - user to whom the issue is assigned
Watcher - user who is watching an issue
Mentioned user - user who has been tagged with @ on a specific issue
User “watches” an issue if they specifically selected this option on the issue itself:
or when they have selected an option to automatically watch an issue they have interacted with (i.e. edited, commented on, transitioned, etc.) in Personal Settings of their Jira Profile. If you do not want to automatically watch every issue you interacted with, please select Disabled:
In Personal Settings of your Jira Profile, you can also specifically enable/disable all email notifications or just notifications sent to specific group:
In Confluence, notifications about any change to a page is typically sent to 4 groups of users:
Watcher - user who is watching a page
User “watches” a page if they specifically selected the option to watch a page or all pages within a space:
or when they have selected an option to automatically watch a page they interacted with (i.e. edited, commented on, liked) in Personal Settings of your Jira Profile. If you do not want to automatically watch every page you interacted with, please select uncheck the corresponding box
You will also see other email notification triggers in Confluence.
There may be additional notifications that are sent to you because you are part of a specific group (e.g. Service Desk). If after modifying the above, you are still receiving unwanted notifications, please reach out.
